Final Assignment

At the beginning I read the name of the course and I thought I was going to have to learn about useless information such as how to use social media and citizenship. However, as the course went on my perspective changed and found that the  information that was being taught were interesting on how we the potential consumers are persuaded to buy products through social media. I really admired the enthusiasm of how the class was taught and the group projects were a plus because it helped met classmates. Much of the information was new to me and also helped me apply it to my daily life such as how information was being misrepresented in order to sell. Another positive aspect was on how the presentations were given in an intriguing manner.
The negative aspects of the class was one and it was an obvious, the class starting off slow and a little dull. Besides that the class was good and I have nothing else to comment on for the negative aspects of the class.  Also, for being the first year this class was set into motion was okay, not the best mostly because it had nothing to do with my intended major. Overall, the class was interesting and the group projects was something very positive and better than having an actual test of the material that we learned. Thank you for all the information and the great presentations, had a good semester.

Individual Report; Group Report

This is the pros and cons about how social media in the workplace is being affect. This topic is often referred to as the double edged sword meaning that both the pros could be beneficial but the cons are also weighing in so it is a balance on how to use it.

Pros of Social Media in the Workplace
http://work.chron.com/impact-social-media-workplace-pros-cons-22611.html
http://www.shrm.org/templatestools/hrqa/pages/socialnetworkingsitespolicy.aspx
https://prezi.com/6lqblpfzzd8k/pros-and-cons-of-using-social-media-at-work/
Some of the pros of having social media in the workplace would having a closer connection to the consumer and notifying them about any changes or new products that may have come out. Using social media in the workplace could make the company seem very modern and up to date making it more attractive to consumers or younger generations. It can also have some good break from all the work and just relax with logging into a social networking site to increase productivity. Using social media is not just for getting a company a good name but it can also be something employees can do while they are on their break and just blow off some steam with getting on a social media in the work place for a couple of minutes. Another thing would be that it would help getting any feedback on concerns that the consumers may have. There are many upsides to having social media in the workplace, ideas are limitless as having a good name for the company that. Now that there are many people using the Internet so that the company has a wider audience to get their things across. Something positive that could come out of this that with the collaboration with the Social Media in the workplace would be that new ideas could sprout up and could potential be very beneficial to the company.

Cons of Social Media in the Workplace
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/disadvantages-social-networking-workplace-21064.html
http://www.shrm.org/templatestools/hrqa/pages/socialnetworkingsitespolicy.aspx
http://blog.mavenlink.com/the-pros-and-mostly-cons-of-social-media-in-the-workplace-2/

The cons of having Social Media in the workplace is that it makes it easier for people to give the company viruses or go into their system and leak information. Since much of the users are in the younger generation then it is less likely that a company that is targeted towards older people should use social media. Most of the older generation prefer to go do any shopping online rather than surfing the web which make things stretchy because they do not know how well the product will work rather than in person. Social media can also hurt the company if there are negative comments going around which could make a dent in their sells. Also other big factors to weigh in are that it does loss the company productivity. There is also concern of people sharing information within the company to other people. There are also some legal troubles that a company could get into if their employees post something offensive of inappropriate. This could cost the company their reputation, millions of dollars or even both. Therefore, it is a major concern to let worker use social media in the workplace that is why so little of the companies let social media usage for safety of their company.

Summary
What I have found through research was that there is a lot of things to take into account. There are many pros as well as cons, but there should be moderation in how companies that would like. The company should have someone specifically who is in charge of just social media in the workplace but not for leisure, strictly for work. If a costumer is asking a question then the person in charge will respond to any comments of concerns that they may have. Companies do have reason to block social media on company devices because it does slow down broadband and loss of productivity. There is moderation to all of this and with the right restrictions and rules the company could be one that sky rockets with success with social media in the workplace.

Social Media Consultation

The business of Chipotle is a restaurant chain that specifies in Mexican grill food.  This chain of restaurant opened in 1993. They do not declare themselves as a fast food chain. They stick strictly to fresh, high quality ingredients. Chipotle is in the social media network where they are able to put out more of their high quality recipes. The social media that is widely used by chipotle is Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Instagram.
The way that Chipotle uses these form of media is by getting connected to their clients and see what kind of food do they like and see their reactions to them. The way that this business uses Youtube is great. Their proposition on Youtube is that they post high quality commercials about the awareness of packaged food that is filled with hormones and other artificial products that is only harming the society. Their commercials are based upon creating awareness of eating healthier food and to trust Chipotle since they are claiming in their advertisements that they use fresh ingredients. Not only is Chipotle gaining more fame for their advertisements, but they will progress into being able to communicate more with their clients through other social media in the future.
Chipotle advertise that they are all natural compared to all the other hormone using fast food restaurants. In their advertisement the text is that they are the healthier alternative than many other restaurants. They also explain in the first link of the Youtube commercial that Buck Marshall explains what they really do to the animals, claiming that this Chipotle commercial is a misconception. The subtext as well as the text makes it clear that this restaurant is the best and that the customers will be satisfied.

Based on Chipotle Mexican Grill's phenomenal growth rate, investors have to be wondering what they're putting in those burritos. The answer is a lot of fresh ingredients, which are mixed together right in front of patrons' eyes. Like Starbucks and Foods, chipotle is capitalizing on consumers' desire for higher-quality food and rightly understands that consumers are willing to pay more for healthier products. Also people are also advertising for Chipotle through Vines and making it desirable for  potential consumers for example the link above.

Group Project Report #2

1. My group will be talking about Social Media in the Workplace. Orlando will explain how there was no social media before in the workplace and how it has drastically changed now with more technology being used to get the word around of a company or of a new product that the workplace has come up with. While Luis is finding companies that are using Social media to better strengthen their relation ships with the consumer or could be headed for the worst
2. The information that I will be presenting would be the pro and cons about having social media in the Workplace. I have searched three sites for both the pros and cons. Some of the sites that I have used was used with the help of Google engine. These sources that I found I will put in context how Social Media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc have influenced businesses in being able to communicate with their clients. Once we have collected all the data we would most likely put it on a Google slide and then present the information there. Each of my group members will put their part on the Google slides and will present their part to the class.

3.
Website for Cons of Social Media in the Workplace
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/disadvantages-social-networking-workplace-21064.html

This website explains how social media or social networking in the workplace has had some decreases in productivity with side conversations and accident leaks of important information or a product that the public or their competition was not intended for seeing. These are some of the things that I have found that have been some downsides to using social media in the workplace.

Website for Pros of Social Media in the Workplace

http://work.chron.com/impact-social-media-workplace-pros-cons-22611.html

Some of the pros of using social media in the workplace is that since a lot of the people are on social media then it is easier to sell a product and get the name of your company out there. It is also an inexpensive way for advertisement.

Privacy Hunt

1. Wiired/ How Facebook Could end up controlling everything you watch online

It is saying that Facebook has a heavy influence on other networks that gives them information about a certain user of users that have the companies product that they would like to sell. The article predicts that Facebook has gotten to big and therefore is going to run things in the cyber would.

2. Cnet/ Tracker that tries to do to  much

This tracker tracks t how many calories that the person wearing it has burned a lot of other things. It is information that people are sharing with, Apple,  and letting them see how they use their devices.

3. TechCrunch/ keeping track of when text messages have been read and open

This explain how Apple has come up with this technology that allows the people that have IPhones when the other person with the same device is texting or has read it or opened the text message. Apple has taken things to a whole other level with privacy and text messages being like they used to, when the other person on the other end did not know is you had opened the text message in order to respond.

Privacy Policies

1. SnapChat- In Snapchat they explain how they are making money of the users and how they use your information to sell to companies. Some of the privacies are letting other people view your snapchat story and for how long as well as the date and time. Snapchat does notify the user is there is any change in the privacy policies and will not use location without ones consent. One of the things that they can not control is if the other person screenshots the picture that you sent but Snapchat will notify you if they did. Personally, I do feel safe having this application and I do not have many complaints about it after reading the privacy policy. The only one that does bother me a little is getting information about the website or application I have used previous and using that to sell to other companies.

2. Instagram- They have teamed up with Facebook in order to get more insight about me. They explain that they do not share information about me with other third parties that I am not a part of but it is not limited. Instagram, also uses the log in, cookies and other things to as they say make it a "better experience' for us the users. I am not so crazy about, Instagram, and quite frankly  I have not felt like I have a lot of privacy on it. I would feel as if they would do they same thing Facebook has done and use certain pictures to alter and test with the emotions of the users to see the results.

3. Tumblr-After reading their policies I do feel as if I do have a safe environment although I do understand that they do have to make money and use the basic such as username, blog post, email etc.  Tumblr does work with Yahoo and cares for the privacy of the users and of course ask for consent if above the legal age.

4. Blackboard- It is who you want people to email or who you do not want to receive emails from. I do like this because I am very secure. I feel like it should be secure because it is something that is linked with school.

Group Project Roles

In order to have a complete idea on how our project will end up, we will all be dividing the work equally. Each member will be responsible for their own research and making sure it is thorough. Our topic is “Social Media and the Workplace”. Luis will be responsible for research and collecting data from the workplaces and how much they use and depend on social media. Orlando will be doing the introduction about  how media is and its big influences towards businesses around the globe. Lastly, David will be in charge of finding the pros and cons of businesses that use social media in their workplace. All group members will all have to have their specific research. If any one from our group member is having trouble on search for their data, then we will contribute our help if it ever come to that. The group member responsible for that each role will be held responsible and will need to elaborate and type their findings for proof. We will communicate with one another in order to progress on this topic and find as much information needed to present. Our way of dividing the work helps us see the importance of our roles and will benefit in seeing our perspectives on the data we collect as well as see what needs to be added, taken away,in order for our presentation on “Social Media and the Workplace”. The place in which I will get the information for the pros and cons for my role in the group would be the UHD library, or Google.

Chinese Gold Mining

In China, the employees dedicate a lot of their time in extreme cramped spaces just to be underpaid. The Chinese people playing games for extreme long periods of time in which they do not see the pay work off especially when they come to The United States and everything is more expensive.  In the video they expose these cramped spaces and interview some of the underpaid worker on how unjust they are being paid for their work, while the person running the whole operation is making a great sum of money off the underpaid workers. The name that this unjust operation has been called is the "Chinese Gold Mine" in which the name speaks for it self because the one running this operation is making a lot of money off the workers in exchange for unfair pay. Therefore, it is just an eye opener to a current problem.
Most of what is happening is due to saving money for the greed of the people who run the Chinese gold mining. The Chinese people do enjoy what they do which is gaming but  they only thing is the downfall is the living area, no breaks as well as not enough pay. Getting paid ten cents an hour is nothing for the United States but when the Chinese come to America they find it hard to adapt and live off what they came here with.

Personality test Review

For my results I got ESFJ, and I feel like they are pretty accurate. The reason I don't agree on it one hundred percent is because I feel as if for extrovert and introvert I am about fifty/fifty. That at time I can be an introvert most of the time especially if i do not know the person well or have some time to talk to them or being around them often. For sensing I am a person who does learn with visual aid and tend to do better with hands on activities rather than being explained what to do and automatically expecting me already to know. The next one is feeling and I do tend to be more empathetic to people or do look at things from their point of view because people have their bad days and need to be cut some slack. Lastly, is judging. For judging it says that I am structured and organized which is true. When you go to my room everything has its place and having it messy makes me feel as if my life is a mess.
This test does help me figure out what kind of person I am and some of the things that I can do better in. For example, being an extrovert I do like going out but by doing that I tend to procrastinate on important things such as homework but that is when my judging comes in to help me limit myself to settling my self down and getting it done so later I can go out and not have to worry about the homework that I have yet to complete.  The bright side to being a extrovert is that I am very sociable and therefore resulting in having connections for the future. So I do like the ups and downs that this test has made me see and what I can improve on ans also what I can do to help me succeed in the future.
